Mary Poppins is a character created by author, P.L. Travers, and featured in six books and a Disney movie. She is a mysterious woman who has magical powers. She enters the lives of the Banks' family at 17 Cherry Tree Lane as their nanny. Nothing is ever really the same for family after that. The illustrator of the original books was Mary Shepard. Although the books were very popular, it was the Disney feature film production of Mary Poppins, with the lead introducing Julie Andrews, that ensured the character's worldwide fame. |
