Where did Mary Poppins come from?

This page and new website are under construction - check back for new and revised content soon!

The Cherry Tree Trust, established by the Estate of PL Travers, author of the Mary Poppins stories, is a philanthropic foundation based in London. Following approaches to the Trust by the President of the Bowral Chamber of Commerce, Terry Oakes-Ash, and the Convenor of BookTown Australia, Paul McShane, advice has been received that prize money for a creative writing competition for youth will be made available by the Trust for the Bowral region. The assistance of longtime friend of PL Travers, Patricia Feltham, was also instrumental in gaining that support from the Trust. It is anticipated that the competition will be held in conjunction with the 2006 Australian Festival of the Book (April-May).

The City of Maryborough, in Queensland, where PL Travers (or Helen Lyndon Goff, as she was then) was born is also a recipient of financial support from the Cherry Tree Trust for a similar purpose.

More information will be made available on this page as it is obtained.
